Vivet — ComplexCon
Design process
For Vivet’s first in-person pop-up experience at ComplexCon’s 10th anniversary in Los Angeles, Ben Ma designed a ceremonial space exploring weight, light, and perception. Broad planes of Corten steel framed the entrance, their evolving patina contrasting with the precision of brushed aluminum inside. Sculptural limestone seating gathered visitors around a central void, while a continuous field of purple carpet softened the monumental geometry.
Diagonal tubes of light cut across the aluminum displays, giving the garments an almost suspended presence. At the center, a highly polished trapezoidal volume reflected the surrounding color, architecture, and movement, appearing solid from one angle and almost disappearing from another. Together, these elements created a tension between permanence and illusion—a temporary space with the presence of a monument.
Ben Ma developed Vivet’s first physical retail experience through extensive sketching, 3d modeling & visualization, creating a calm, private retreat within the energy of ComplexCon. Drawing on minimalist architecture and California’s Light and Space movement, he refined multiple proposals into a final design, visualized in Blender and approved for production.
